Description
A Fifth Great Classified Growth of 1855 in Pauillac, the Château Haut-Bages Libéral is a distinguished estate on the Left Bank of the Bordeaux region because of the elegance and refinement of its wines. The owner, Claire Villars Lurton, works with conviction and passion to preserve the style of the estate. Vintage after vintage, the wines continued to be recognized for their quality and precision.
The estate is in the process of getting its organic agriculture certification with the aim of achieving certification in biodynamics. Château Haut-Bages Libéral oversees a 30-hectare vineyard with an exceptional terroir located on the famous Bages plateau that rests on Garonne gravel soil dating back to the Günz Ice Age.
The frosts that hit the southern part of the Médoc vineyards at the end of April 2017 spared the Pauillac vineyards due to the protective role of the river, which helps regulate weather. The berries reached the perfect stage of ripeness to have an ideal tannin-acidity balance while maintaining great aromatic freshness.
